Use this form to take a snapshot of your database(s). The database is either copied or compacted (if you click the Compact during Backup checkbox), with a time stamp appended to the name (in the form YYYY_MM_DD_HH_MM, e.g. 2000_01_23_13_52 for 01/23/2000 at 1:52 PM). The name of the main database is "SatTracker.mdb", so a backed up version would be named SatTracker_2000_01_23_13_52.mdb. The same applies to the commissions database ("Comm.mdb"). To close the form, click on the 'X' button on the upper right hand corner. In order to use this feature, all forms except the main menu must be closed, and there must be no other users accessing the database.

You need to back up the databases after you make significant changes to the data. Since the commissions database is updated far less frequently than the main database, SatTracker allows you to specify which databases to back up.

You can perform scheduled (periodic) compact/repairs, as well as other maintenance activities, by utilizing the Event Scheduler.

Use the Manage Backups form to restore backups.

IMPORTANT: the database repair function uses databases that have been timestamped as described above to repair databases (if a table becomes corrupted, it finds the most recent backup).

Customer/Receiver Information: Check this box to back up the main database. You can check both databases if you wish.

Commission Information: Check this box to back up the commissions (information from Dish Network) database. You can check both databases if you wish.

Compact During Backup: Check this box (recommended) to compact and repair the database during the backup.

Go: Press this button to start the backup or compact.

Close: Press this button to close the form.
